Edstaston Legacy Set to Continue in Flocks Across the UK

Robert and Jeanette Gregory from Harmer Hill in Shropshire sold the adult part of their Edstaston Charollais Flock at the weekend by timed-on line sale.  The sale saw the culmination of 40 years of top class breeding and the first part of their dispersal sale, with this year’s ewe lambs going under the hammer in 2027.  Topping the bidding at £5,100 was David Roberts for his Boyo flock, near Shrewsbury.  This lovely ewe was a daughter of Edstaston Tamsin, whose progeny featured strongly in the sale.  Her sire was Dalby Ancelotti, a high index and championship winning stock sire.

Next highest in the prices was a shearling ewe, one of Robert’s favourite which sold for £4,100 to Messrs Bennett & Roberts from Powys.  This top performance index ewe was sired by Boyo Commander out of Edstaston Wasabi.  Also on offer were a number of embryos and semen from the flock and it was this combination of breeding that topped this section; embryos sold for £300 apiece.  Another full sister to the £4,100 shearling ewe sold for £3,900 to David Roberts for his Boyo Flock.

A busy buyer during the sale was Abbie Moseley from the Knockin Flock, Oswestry.  Among her 10 purchases was a shearling ewe at £1,900.  This one was also by Boyo Commander and a full sister to the top priced ram in 2025, Edstaston Dakota, which sold for 14,000 gns.  Dakota’s dam was Edstaston Tamsin and this 8 year old ewe also found a new home with the Knockin flock for £1,800.

Adding to their purchases for their Sannan Flock, Messrs Bennett & Roberts took another Boyo Commander / Tamsin daughter at £1,750.

Several new flock owners were bidders at the sale including Sophie Martin from Dorset.  Her top choice was yet another Tamsin daughter, this time sired by Tullyear Artemis.  She went to £1,650 to secure this ewe.

Some different breeding was in the shearling ewe purchased at £1,600 by Lewis Jones, Llanbydder, Carmarthenshire.  This one’s sire was Edstaston Bombardier out of a Hillside Tennyson ewe.

Top bid for semen was shared between Boyo Commander and Edstaston Catch Me If You Can at £46 / ewe dose.
