Flying trade at Exeter for Charollais females

One buyer dominated the sale of in-lamb Charollais shearling ewes and ewe lambs at Exeter Market Friday 31st October taking 14 out of the 21 lots forward.  Richard Rogers from Mold in North Wales was adding to his newly formed Blodwyn Flock.  Topping his list were two shearling ewes at 1700gns apiece.

The first was from the Sheldon flock of Gerald Burrough, Devon.  This ewe was out of his top show ewe, Sheldon Tantastic and carrying twins to Pembroke Club Captain.  At the same money was the pen leader from Tom Newth’s Prestleigh flock, Somerset.  His daughter of Robleston Buckle Up was also carrying twins, this time to Boyo Drambuie.  Other shearlings from the same flock sold for 1450gns and 1400gns.

Will Whiting’s Fursdon flock from Cornwall topped at 1300gns for a Crogham bred shearling by Edstaston Bodhi and carrying twins to the 2025 sale leader Edstaston Dakota.

Leading the ewe lamb section were Ben and Amelia Watts at 1100gns with a lamb by Springhill Crackerjack.  All four of their entries will be joining the Blodwyn Flock.

Averages : 14 shearling ewes £1,160.25; 7 ewe lambs £885.00 (Kivells)
