Demand was strong for Charollais tups and ewes at the NSA South West Ram Sale held at Exeter Market (20th August 2025) with a 100% clearance on all sections.
Shearling rams finished the day with an average of £950. Topping the days trading at 2300gns was a shearling ram from Paul Quick’s Loosebeare flock in Devon. Going to this price was Messrs Rottenbury from Taunton, Somerset. This tup is a son of Llangan Atomic. Meanwhile, the first shearling ram in the Loosebeare pen and again by the Llangan tup, sold for 1500gns to G D Swerling, Buckinghamshire.
The same buyer paid 1400gns for the pre-show champion, a shearling ram from Ben and Amelia Watts’s Willow flock in Devon, sired by Oakchurch Apache. Tom Nancekivell had a strong pen of shearling tups forward and his leading price was 1450gns for a son of Galtres Bright Morning Star, which sold to Messrs O’Brien, Devon.
Will Whiting from Cornwall achieved a top price of 1350gns for a high index performance shearling tup by Edstaston Bar One. This one heads to Sussex to Downsview Sheep.
The entry of shearling ewes all found new homes with a top call of 600gns for one from Gerald Burrough’s Sheldon flock. His pen of nine were all sired by Robleston Wizard and the pen leader went to E J Hosegood, from Crediton. The Sheldon flock also had a top price of 1200gns for their shearling tup, bred the same way, which sold to R G A Wood and Partners, Holsworthy, Devon.
