David Robert’s Boyo flock from Shropshire once again ruled supreme at the Royal Three Counties Show. This year his winner was the shearling ewe, Boyo Clover. By Tullyear Artemis and out of Edstaston Azalea, judge Robert Gregory said: “She was everything you want in a Charollais; very correct with a tremendous presence and great locomotion. Good width, not too fat with a very good skin.”
The second prize shearling ewe moved up to take the reserve female and then reserve overall breed championship. This time it was one from Yorkshire breeder, James Danforth. His Lodgehill shearling ewe was sired by Foxhill A One and out of a home-bred ewe.
The male champion was also from the Boyo flock in the form of Boyo Bravemansgame, the top priced ram at the 2023 Worcester Premier Sale. His sire is Lowerye Vladimir and is out of an Edstaston ewe.
The shearling ram and reserve male title went to Welsh breeder, David Lewis from Pembrokeshire. Pembroke Crème de la Crème will be offered for sale at Worcester Premier sale on the 5th July. This big, strong ram is sired by Bronwydd Wild Thing out of a home-bred ewe.
The Pembroke flock also was top of the line up in the ram lamb class with Pembroke Domino, a son of Thackwood Casper out of an Elmwick ewe. This tup lamb is also destined for the sale ring, this time at the Carlisle Supreme sale.
The Boyo Flock stood top of the line in the ewe class with one bred by Graham Foster in Northern Ireland. This Springhill ewe was sired by Boyo Walk this Way.
Finishing the day with a red rosette was Jennifer Curtis’s Elmwick flock with a flashy ewe lamb by Loanhead Bright Spark.
