The Royal Bath and West Show hosted this year’s South West region Feature Show and taking the glory this year, having come through as winner of the shearling ewe class was 24WAJ01072 from father and son team, Matthew and Jamie Collard.

Bred by Emyr Hughes, this Bronwydd Wild Thing daughter is out of an Arbyrn-bred dam by Artnagullion Turbo. Having won the breed championship under judge Patrick Tully, she then wen ton to win the reserve Continental interbreed championship under judge Alan Lyons and later on in the show was part of the Continental interbreed team of six.
Standing reserve in the breed championship was the shearling ram winner and male champion, Sheldon Carson from Gerald Burrough. By Robleston Wizard, this one is out of a homebred female by Loosebeare Tornado.
Tom Newth of the Prestleigh flock took both the reserve male and reserve female championship spots. His reserve male went the way of the ram lamb class winner with a son of senior stock ram, Wernfawr Awesome out of a Bronwydd female that was purchased at the Hereford High Flyers sale, herself a former first prize winner at last year’s Royal Three Counties Show. Meanwhile, his class winning ewe lamb, another by Awesome, is out of a homebred ewe.
Picking up the top place rosette in the aged ram class was Chris Griffin of the Whitcombe flock with a 2023-born ram, bred by Tom Newth. Prestleigh Bravo is by Pembroke All Star and out of a homebred female by Boyo Toy Story.
