RESULTS

The Charollais breed enjoyed a highly successful Balmoral Show this year with an outstanding shearling ewe from Graham Foster’s Springhill flock winning the supreme interbreed title.  The breed was also victorious in the pairs interbreed competition.  

The Springhill gimmer had earlier been the choice of Charollais judge, Jonathan Wales of the Thackwood flock, Cumbria, to land the breed title.  Sired by the 24,000gns Boyo Bravemansgame out of an Oakchurch ewe, she is a full embryo sister to the sale topper in 2024, Springhill Casino Royale. 

Winner of the male championship ticket was the senior ram, Hollylodge Viscount exhibited by the Lornbrook flock.  Main stock ram in their flock, his sire was Loanhead Ur the Boy. Standing second in the aged ram class and then moving up to take the reserve male title was Aghavilly Albert from Glen Baird’s flock. 

The reserve female champion was a senior ewe also from the Lornbrook flock and they also stood first and second in the ewe lamb class. 

Alistair Moore’s Hillside flock was the winner of the ram lamb class, with a strong lamb sired by Thackwood Braveheart.  This sire was the winner of his class in 2024 at Balmoral.  Taking the red ticket in the shearling ram class was another from the Lornbrook flock, from the same breeder as their male champion, Messrs McConnell.  This Hollylodge tup was sired by Erenagh Brave Inca.
